LIONS 33 LAKESIDE 56

It was a meeting to forget at Beaumont Park on Saturday as the Lions were overwhelmed by the Lakeside Hammers who raced to an emphatic 56 points to 33 win to complete the double over Leicester within 24 hours.

The lead switched between the two teams on five occasions in the opening six heats but then came a purple patch that saw the visitors win the next four races to put them on the road to victory. A token heat advantage in Heat 12 happened for the Paul Chapman and Sons Lions but there was no holding the Lakeside riders who completed the meeting on a high with three maximum heat wins.

Josh Auty and Paul Starke were again in the thick of the action; both ending the match as the team’s top two scorers but the pairing needed that same spirit from their teammates to support their honest endeavours.

“We are hurting from this result and we will be working doubly hard to ensure that we get ourselves onto a winning frame of mind. I would like to apologise to our fans for the poor performance which is not acceptable” said the Lions Team Manager Norrie Allan.
